Health Utilization Reports
The Data Integration and Analysis Division has released a new interactive application, RFA Health Utilization Reports.
The application includes more than 10 dashboards and other reporting tools allowing users to analyze and download information about South Carolina healthcare statistics. It replaces existing static data tables with an interactive and user-friendly tool to more readily visualize and analyze data. The applications include diagnoses, types of services or procedures, demographic and geographic information, nearest facility lookup, and more.
Health Utilization Data
The health information collected under South Carolina Code of Laws § 44-6-170 is maintained by the Data Integration and Analysis Division. The health information includes data from Uniform Billing (UB-04) and CMS-1500 billing systems on inpatient discharges, emergency department visits, outpatient surgery, imaging, radiation therapy and other outpatient services from both short-term acute care hospitals and licensed freestanding centers in the state.
These databases include reasons for use of services (ICD-10-CM diagnoses), types of services received (ICD-10-CM procedures or HCPCS/CPT procedures), charges for services by revenue center, length of stay, patient disposition, etc.
Data Oversight Council
The South Carolina Data Oversight Council, a fifteen member public/private body formed by the state statute with RFA as staff, oversees the collection and release of health information collected under § 44-6-170, South Carolina Code of Law. The Data Oversight Council reviews and approves applications for the release of health care data at the encounter level.
