Ensuring the Accuracy and Integrity of Geodetic Data within South Carolina

The South Carolina Geodetic Survey established within the Revenue and Fiscal Affairs Office shall establish horizontal and vertical geodetic control within the State at a density that effectively will provide land and land-related items and records to be referenced to the national horizontal and vertical coordinate system, ensure the accuracy and integrity of new geodetic data entered into the state and national reference system, maintain geodetic files for the State, and disseminate geodetic information as necessary.

SC Geodetic Services
County Boundary Program
Where county boundaries are ill-defined, unmarked, or poorly marked, the South Carolina Geodetic Survey on a cooperative basis shall assist counties in defining and monumenting the locations of county boundaries and positioning the monuments using geodetic surveys.
S.C. Real Time Network
A proven method of positioning in real-time at the cm-level. Invented in the early 1990's. RTK makes GPS/GNSS a very efficient tool for some tasks such as construction staking, machine control, topographic surveys, precision agriculture and many others where precise real-time positioning is valuable
Statewide Aerial Imagery
Statewide aerial mapping initiative for collecting standardized imagery. This data will be used by local, state and federal agencies to help manage land, land tax assessment, change detection and emergency operations along with other business applications.
GPS Height Modernization
A program within NOAA's National Geodetic Survey (NGS) that provides accurate height information by integrating Global Positioning System (GPS) technology with existing survey techniques.
SC GIC
South Carolina Geographic Information Council
An interagency council that publishes reports on state outreach, strategic planning, and needs assessments for the coordination of geographic information
